2019 Dodge Journey vs 2019 Kia Sorrento near Toledo, OH

If you're in the market for a new SUV, you can go crazy with all the different options out there. Fortunately, the Dodge Journey and the Kia Sorrento are here to make your decision a little bit easier. Both of these premium SUVs are perfect for families and load to the brim with features. But which one is the best for you? Well, we are here to answer that question and make your life a little easier.

2019 Dodge Journey Power & Handling

The SE and the Crossroad trims of the Dodge Journey come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard, and the Journey has a terrific fuel consumption of 21 mpg. An option for the SE and Crossroad and standard on the GT is a 3.6-liter V6 that comes with 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque with all-wheel-drive. The 2.4 engine gets a four-speed automatic transmission and can tow 1,000 pounds, while the V6 comes with a six-speed automatic and tows 2,500 pounds.

2019 Kia Sorrento Power & Handling

Kia simplifies its powertrain choices by offering a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic transmission on lower trims and a 3.3-liter V6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission on higher trims. Front-wheel-drive is the standard, but the Kia Sorento is available in all-wheel-drive on all models but the base level trim.

2019 Dodge Journey Features & Design

The Dodge Journey comes in three trim levels and gives the base-level SE more equipment. The SE comes with a self-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry/ignition, 2nd-row storage bins, and a 4.3 infotainment display with six speakers, AM/FM radio and a USB port. These features go along with new ones like fog lights, tri-zone climate control, heated/power-folding side mirrors, and LED rear lights. Stepping up to the Crossroad trim gets you 19-inch alloy wheels, side rails, fog lights, power-adjustable driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Bluetooth. The top-tier GT brings you a dedicated suspension, better-quality speakers, and one-touch front windows. Optional features for the Journey include leather-trimmed/heated front seats, rear parking sensors, power sunroof, and a remote start function.

2019 Kia Sorrento Features & Design

The Kia Sorento comes with a few trim levels and offers you features such as keyless entry, cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels, a rearview camera, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth at the base-level L trim. Higher-level trims come with two-rapid charge USB ports, blind-spot monitoring, an acoustic windshield, power driver's seat, and duel-climate control. Optional for the Sorento are heated front seats, a navigation system, push-button start, fog lights, universal garage remote, and 18-inch wheels. The Sorento offers some excellent features, but we wish that it had more to offer at the base-level trim.

Conclusions

It's a close call, but we are going to go with the Dodge Journey. The base-level for the Journey offers more options than that of the Sorento and the fuel efficiency of the Journey's engine is perfect for those that do a lot of driving.
