2020 Ram 1500 vs Toyota Tundra

You've started to notice recently how badly you need a new truck. Whether it's due to a current lack of towing power, or just wanting something with more capability, now is the perfect time to start looking for your next ride. We are here comparing two of the top full-size pickup trucks on the market today so you can get a better idea as to which model is the best one available. The first is the 2020 Ram 1500, which has added in a new EcoDiesel engine option, offers an impressive and comfortable interior, and is sure to have all of the modern features that you're looking for in a truck. The other option is the 2020 Toyota Tundra, which includes a new eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Smart Key with push-button start. Keep reading to find out which one we recommend!

2020 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

One of the best things about the Ram 1500 is that you have the ability to choose from one of three different engines. Each engine is powerful, and has the fuel efficiency that you didn't think possible from a pickup truck. The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6, which outputs 305 horsepower. Next up is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6, which can create 260 horsepower. The final available engine, which produces 395 horsepower, is a 5.7-liter V8. All three engines work hand-in-hand with an eight-speed automatic transmission. They all are also available with either two- or four-wheel drive, depending on your own needs.

2020 Toyota Tundra Power & Handling

You will find only one standard engine with the 2020 Toyota Tundra. This standard engine is a 5.7-liter V8, which can crank out up to 381 horsepower, and 401 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard. When it comes to the drivetrain, you can get either two-wheel or four-wheel drive. The lack of other engine options, especially a diesel engine, is pretty disappointing. Immediately the Tundra is losing ground on the Ram 1500 and the three engines it has to offer.

2020 Ram 1500 Features & Design

In order to better get a truck that fits your needs, the Ram 1500 comes in multiple different trim levels that help to further reflect either the utility you need the truck for, or your personality. Standard features, found with the Tradesman trim, include power locks and windows, a 5-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, air conditioning, a rearview camera, and keyless entry. Another trim, called Rebel, includes features like a fully dampened tailgate, LED headlights, a 12-way power driver's seat, a power-sliding rear window, and 33-inch Wrangler DuraTrac tires. One of the most luxurious options is Laramie Longhorn, which adds premium leather seating, navigation, remote start, genuine wood and leather interior trim, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and ParkSense front and rear parking sensors.

2020 Toyota Tundra Features & Design

The Tundra also has a pretty extensive trim level lineup. Standard features, all found with the SR trim, include an easy-lower tailgate, Toyota Safety Sense P, a rearview camera, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Another trim option, Platinum, includes JBL audio, LED headlights, rear cross-traffic alert, navigation, perforated leather heated and ventilated seats, and blind-spot monitoring. For something with even more features, consider TRD Pro, which adds 18-inch BBS wheels, JBL audio, navigation, TRD tuned springs, and Fox 2.5-inch front shocks. While the lineup isn't horrible, we're more of a fan of the feature availability of the Ram 1500.

Conclusion:

Now is the time to take advantage of our 2020 Ram 1500 inventory and own the best full-size pickup truck around. While the 2020 Toyota Tundra isn't the worst option out there, it barely competes with everything that the 1500 has to offer. From three engines to a full trim lineup, you can't go wrong with the Ram 1500. We hope to see you at our dealership soon!
