Back for its second model year, the Jeep Gladiator continues to make waves in the lineup. By taking the off-roading capability and open-air design of the Wrangler and putting a five-foot truck bed on the back, Jeep brought something unique to the midsize pickup class. With standard 4x4, Dana 44 solid axles, available limited-slip differentials, and more all give the Gladiator its superior off-road capability while providing plenty of utility with a five-foot truck bed and trailer sway control. Below, you'll find an in-depth look at the Gladiator and everything it has to offer. Read on to learn more!

What Are the Engine and Drivetrain Options for the 2021 Gladiator?

The 2021 Jeep Gladiator is eligible for two different engine options. The standard engine is a 3.6L V6 mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This cranks out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 is available for the Sport, Overland, and Rubicon. This kicks out 260 horsepower and an impressive 442 lb-ft of torque for easy towing and off-roading. An 8-speed automatic is available for the gas engine, while the EcoDiesel comes linked to a 9-speed automatic to handle the extra torque.

What Are Some Design Features of the 2021 Gladiator?

It may be a truck, but the Jeep Gladiator gives occupants the open-air freedom that only the Wrangler was known to provide. With the Wrangler's removable soft-top, removable doors, and fold-down windshield, occupants can enjoy an open-air ride. At the same time, the iconic seven-slot grille, round headlights, and wide stance provide an image that is recognized anywhere. The interior is also similar to the Wrangler with a flat dashboard, round vents and gauges, drain plugs, and a 5-inch, 7-inch, or 8.4-inch touchscreen options. Available features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, all-weather floormats, a Bluetooth speaker, dual-zone climate control, and more!

2021 Jeep Gladiator Capability

All Jeep Gladiator trims have the coveted Trail Rated badge. Jeep doesn't just give this badge to any vehicle; it has to go through a rigorous series of tests to earn the badge. The Gladiator passed the tests thanks to Jeep's Command-Trac part-time 4x4 to give drivers maximum traction on paved roads, rocky inclines, snow, mud, and everything in between. Drivers are able to shift from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive or vice versa at highway speeds up to 55 MPH. When the transfer case is in four-lock, torque is split 50/50 between the front and rear axle for maximum 4WD performance. The four-low range provides power at low speeds to crawl through tough terrain. Being the trim that other off-road vehicles are compared to, the Rubicon comes with the best off-roading features like Tru-Lok electronic locking front and rear differentials, Rock-Trac part-time 4x4, 73.1:1 crawl ratio, and an electronic sway bar disconnecting. While the Rubicon sets a high bar for other off-roading trucks, all Gladiator trims can handle just about anything you can throw at it with Trail Rated capability!
