2022 Dodge Challenger vs Ford Mustang
While families are fond of sedans and three-row SUVs, if you have a need for speed, you're going to want a muscle car. Two of the best out there are the 2022 Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang, as they both come with powerful engine options, tons of amazing features, and two of the most comfortable cabins on the planet. Our team here at Grogan's Towne Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram thinks you can't go wrong with either one of these fine muscle cars, but there is one that has a significant advantage over the other. To find out which one comes out on top, continue reading out the complete comparison below!
Dodge Challenger Engine Options
The 2022 Dodge Challenger comes with a few engine options, and each one is more powerful than the last. The engine for the first couple of trims is a 3.6-liter V6 that gets you an outstanding 303 horsepower and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission that provides drivers and passengers with a smooth ride. Rear-wheel-drive is standard on the SXT and GT, but these trims give you the option of all-wheel-drive, which is perfect for those bad weather days. When you get to the R/T trim, you get the first of the ultra-powerful V8 options! In this case, it's a 5.7-liter V8 that pumps out 372 horsepower with the eight-speed automatic transmission or 375 horsepower with a six-speed manual. Next, we have the Scat Pack, which has a 6.4-liter V8 that pumps out a pavement-pounding 485 horsepower! Then there are the Hellcat trims which have a turbocharged version of the 6.4-liter V8 that blazes a trail with 717 horsepower, which can be upped to 797 or even 807 horsepower with the remarkable SRT Super Stock!
Ford Mustang Engine Options
The Ford Mustang tries to compete with what the Challenger offers with a couple of decent engine options. Standard is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that delivers a solid 310 or 322 horsepower with the high-performance package. The V8 engine options for the Mustang begin at the GT trim, which comes with a 5.0-liter V8 that pumps out a generous 450 horsepower or 470 horses with the Mach 1 trim. The last engine option is available on the GT500 trim, which uses a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that delivers 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. Most engines come with either a manual or automatic transmission. The Mustang has some impressive engine options, but the Challenger has the 807 horsepower Jailbreak package, which is a tad more impressive.
Dodge Challenger Available Features

The SXT also gets a tremendous amount of tech, including a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, voice control, Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system, and a forward-collision warning system.
