Trailer Reverse Steering Control
The Ram 1500 is available with Trailer Reverse Steering Control. When backing up with a trailer, it can be tricky to get used to steering the truck to control the direction of the trailer. That's why Ram's Trailer Reverse Steering Control system provides drivers with a steering knob to control the direction of the trailer as you reverse while the system controls the truck's steering wheel. Also aiding in reversing a trailer is the Reverse Guidance System. This gives you a wide-angle view of the trailer you're towing and can be adjusted left or right to help you be fully aware of your trailer's surroundings. It offers a split-screen view to help guide and park your trailer safely.
Blindspot Monitoring
Ram's Blindspot Monitoring System, available for the Ram 1500, uses sensors integrated in the taillights to sense vehicles when they enter your vehicle's blind spots on either side. When a vehicle is detected, a light will illuminate on the side mirror, alerting you of its presence. While blindspot monitoring is a common safety feature in the modern automotive industry, Ram takes it a step further with Automatic Trailer Detection. When activated, this system can be set to Auto mode, which uses blindspot sensors to detect the length of the trailer and account for it when detecting vehicles in its blind spots. Conversely, it can be set to Max mode, which uses the blindspot sensor's full range of 39.5 feet.
360-Degree Surround-View Camera
Ram also offers a 360-Degree Surround-View Camera System with Trailer Camera Prep. This features exterior cameras on the side mirrors, cab, and tailgate to provide an all-around view of the trailer behind your truck and its surroundings. When equipped with the Surround-View Camera System, you can choose a top, rear, or split-screen view to help best align your truck with the trailer. Meanwhile, the Trailer Camera Prep feature allows you to add auxiliary cameras to the inside or outside of your trailer, adding additional visibility by seamlessly integrating with your truck's display screen.
Air Suspension
Air suspension provides a wide array of benefits for drivers, including a smooth ride, optimal aerodynamics, and additional ground clearance when needed. However, Ram's air suspension system offers Bed Lowering Mode, providing drivers who tow with the ability to lower their truck's rear suspension to align the trailer hitch ball with the coupler on a conventional trailer. Once the ball is underneath the coupler, simply hit the Bed Lowering feature on your touchscreen again, raising the rear suspension back up toward the coupler.
